FROM YOUR AREA MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR

Worthy Grand Knights, Membership Directors, and Brothers:

VIVAT JESUS!

The Fraternal Year is almost at its halfway point, and the time is now to evaluate your council’s membership recruiting program.

For some councils, putting their Action Plans to use has produced favorable results. Sadly, for most councils in Area 6, this has not been the case. Without new members, a council cannot flourish and do the work of the Order.

Without new members, a once healthy council cannot put on programs that will invigorate its members and give them a reason to stay active. By not actively seeking out eligible Catholic men to join the Knights, you are depriving them of a “Chance of a Lifetime” to proudly promote Charity, a Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism as a Knight.

For those individual members, who know of a relative or friend that might want to join, don’t put-off asking! If your council hasn’t as yet put together a recruitment drive, now is the time to act. There is still time before the Holidays to increase your rolls.

There are plenty of incentives from Supreme, State, as well as individual ones. They, along with suggestions on how to plan and execute a successful drive are explained in the Membership Books

Given to each council. I am available to answer any question, or assist you.

It’s not too late to reverse our negative trend in Michigan, but only you can make it happen. With District Deputies, Grand Knights, and Membership Directors working together, your goals will become reality.

Fraternally,

Pete Wilhelm,PGK,FDD

Who are the Knights?
The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic family fraternal service organization with 1.7 million members. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, their communities, families and young people.

As a member of the Knights of Columbus you and your family enjoy many benefits, including 12 free issues annually of Columbia magazine, the world's largest Catholic family magazine, eligibility to join the Knights of Columbus top-ranked life insurance program, and many more family and personal benefits.

Father Solanus Casey Council #3797 has many benefits available to Membership. We support two Churches; St. Margaret’s of Scotland in St Clair Shores and St. Donald’s in Roseville. The Fourth Degree Assembly has a ten member Color Corp and hold their meetings here, at our hall, along with the Daughters of Isabella.

Fr. Solanus Casey is a Hall Council with arability for hall rentals and a outside pavilion for parties.  We have a club house with regular hours for its membership.

We support many Church Activities, Youth Activities, Family Activities, Community Service and Council Activities.

How To Join
Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practicing Catholic men in union with the Holy See, who are at least 18 years old. A practicing Catholic is one who lives up to the Commandments of God and the precepts of the Church. Application blanks are available from any member of the Knights of Columbus.

4th Degree
Any Third Degree member in good standing, one year after the anniversary of his First Degree, is eligible for membership in the Fourth Degree. The primary purpose of the Fourth Degree is to foster the spirit of patriotism by promoting responsible citizenship and a love of and loyalty to the Knights' through active membership in local Fourth Degree groups (called "assemblies"). Certain members of the Fourth Degree serve as honor guards at civic and religious functions, an activity that has brought worldwide recognition to the Knights of Columbus.

Membership in the Fourth Degree is available through Faithful Navigator Gerald Wilczynski 313 372-3043

Ladies Auxiliary
The Ladies Auxiliary's main function is to SUPPORT the men and the council. They do this primarily by providing help at events, cooking for events and providing monetary help. They also generally do help with setting up and beautifying the hall for events.

Membership in Ladies Auxiliary is presently inactive with Solanus Casey, and is available through other councils. Solanus Casey has and supports membership in D of I (Daughters of Isabella)

Squires EmblemUnder the guidance of Christian Brother Barnabas McDonald (1865-1929), the first Columbian Squires circle was instituted in 1925. Membership in the Squires is for Catholic boys between the ages of 12 and 17. Squires' activities are many, varying from spiritual to active service for the Church and community. Each circle elects officer members from their own rank, teaching skills of leadership and responsibility.

Membership in Squires is presently inactive with Solanus Casey, and is available through other councils.
